Brick repair method
We use a 5″ angle grinder with a 6mm diamond blade to rake out the old the old mortar. This gives a clean cut to both the top and bottom of the joint, ready for the new mortar to be applied. In some cases, power tools may not be permitted, so hand tools are used such as a comb hammer. We then wash down the brickwork to remove any dust to ensure the new mortar has maximum hold. We rake out old mortar to a depth of between 18mm and 20mm. This ensures a strong key for the new mortar to be applied.
